Smith v. John Sheehan. Application to take evidence. The necessary papers not having been returned, the case was adjourned for a fortnight. — M. A. E. Gardiner v. W. A. Berry, claim for £1 Us 10s, being an account for dressmaking, money lent, and money received on plaintiff's behalf, less 11s paid on account. Defendant pleaded that part of tb.9 work was done prior to his bankruptcy, and disputed the other items, and contended that Is 10s was all that was owing to plaintiff. Evidence was taken on both sides, and defendant being unable to prove that he included the plaintiff's claim in his bankruptcy liabilities, judgment was given for the plaintiff for £l 0s lOd, with 7s costs.— Charles Bell v. Daniel Dee, claim for £4 4s 3d, goods supplied. No appearance of defendant. Judgment for amount claimed, with 12s costs. — Donald Potter v. James Hastie, hotelkeeper, Feilding, claim for £3 10s, value of a watch unlawfully detained. The case was adjourned until the following morning for the production of a witness on behalf of the plaintiff. . The Court then adjourned.
