The counsel employed to defend Arabi have secured the right of crossexamining witnesses, and it is confidently said that Arabi and his fellow prisoners will receive a fair trial. Sir .Garnet Wolseley has sailed for England. Under the scheme of re-organisation drawn up for the Egyptian Government by Baker Pasha one-half of the officers in the army will in future be Englishmen. The cost, it is estimated, would amount to about ten millions.
