EXPENDITURE OF BORROWED MONEY,- &c.
A return lias been laid before the Legislative Council, showing the entire expenditure ot borrowed money duririg each of the financial years from the Ist July, 1870, together with, the • gross amount of revenue arising from both land fund and payments into the consolidated fund during eaoh of the years within the same period ;. .also, ' the r anionnt actually spenfcofhhe'five million loan up to the 30th June last :—
Total £15,474,337 An abstract of the expenditure shows that the expenditure out of this amount on public works was £13,492,337 ; defence loan, £1,0,00,000.; , Treasury bills in aid of revenue, £432,000 ; for | the payment of provincial liabilities. £550,000. The laud fund credited in account with provinces and provincial districts was as follows : 1870-71, £208.091 ; ' 71-72, £330.311 ; . 72-73, .£889,042 73 74, £1,066,744; 74«75, £773 205 < 73-76, £857,900; 76-77, £1,005 855 77-78, £933,309. The amount of the five million loan expeuded up to 30th June, 18S0, was £2,820.097, including the redemption, of £800,000 Imperial guaranteed deben, ( tures of the loan of 1870, and the balance ' of imprest monies advanced outstanding on the 30th June, 1880.
