WELLINGTON.
May 10. This morning the Chief Justice formally adjourned the Civil sittings of the Supreme Court until Wednesday. It was expected that the case" of Rhodes v. Rhodes and others would come on for hearing, but it | is understood that Counsel have agreed to settle the matter by a friendly meeting in the library. It is likely the case will be amicably settled. Mr Justice .Richmond not having arrived from New Plymouth, the Appeal Court commenced sitting thid morning without him. Fir3t Water, the winner of tlie Adelaide Cup, is a 3-year old chestnut colt by Fireworks, dam Gem, the property of Mr W. File. He was at one time much thought of in connection with the Melbourne Cup, for which he wa3 handicapped O'st 4lbs.
