DUNEDIN.
Oct. 26. The Superintendent has addressed letters as follows, in accordance with the request of the Political Association:-—"I have the honor to request you to be good enough to attend a meeting of the members of the House of Eepresenta* fives and Provincial Council, Mayors of Municipalities, Chairmen of District Eoad Boards and of the Local Education Committee ; to be be held in the Provincial Council Hall, Dunedin, on Wednesday, November 8, to confer and determine as to the best means of extricating the Province of Otago from the evil results involved in the Abolition of Provinces Act. I need not say that the present is a crisis which demands the most serious attention of all earnest men who* have the future welfare of the province at heart; and I venture to hope i there will be a goodly muster of such at ' the proposed meeting, which need not occupy more than one or two days."
