The following are the days appointed for calling at the several places : Mondays, Maxwelltown; Tuesdays, Waitotara ; Wednesday, and the rest of the week, at Woodstock. The good qualities of Surprise need not here be enlarged upon, as his breed, pedigree, and prize list are sufficient guarantee that he is all that he is represented, an honest, sound, healthy, vigorous animal. Terms : One Mare, £4 ; two or more Mares, the property of one owner, £3 10s. Groomage, 2s 6d each Mare. Fees, if so required, payable prior to the removal of Mares, or as per ar- ! raugement, on or before 31st December, 1876. Secure Paddocks provided for Mares for the space of three weeks from date of entry free, but after that period, 2s per week will be charged. JOHN SHEILD, Woodstock sept 23 THE PURE CLYDESDALE HORSE "PRESIDEN T," WILL travel the Palmerston, Bull Town, Marton, Turakina, aud Lower Rangitikei districts this season, going his round every niue days. Mares will also be taken in and paddocked on the Oroua Downs Station free of expense, for one month, after that two shillings a week will be charged for each mare. TERMS: Single Mare, £5 ss ; Groom's Fee, ss; paddocking (per week), 2s, after the first month. President is a dark bay horse rising five years old, and seventeen hands one inch high, a tremendous powerful, heavy boned horse, very proportionately made, and is one of the best heavy-actioued horses in the colony. He is naturally sound and possesses feet and legs of the mos. durable kind. H.e is by the prize horse, Old President, wbich was bred by the late Mr J. Nimrr "7 Taeiri, Otago; by Marquis, imported from Victoria, bred by J. Brown, Esq, Preston Hall, Lower Plenty, by Prince Charlie, imported, and out of Mr Brown's celebrated mare Old Jean, the winner of eleven first prizes and was never beaten. Marquis has gained 14 first prizes and 4 secoud prizes in Victoria, and since he was imported to Otago he has gained 3 first and 5 second prizes. Old President is out of Nancy, imported from Scotland, bred by A. Finlay, Esq, Sandy Hills, near Glasgow, by the celebrated Cavalry horse, Herdman, by Scotchman, the property of Mr Kirkwood, Kilmars. President is out of Kate, which is admitted to be the best mare in New Zealand. Kate is by Napoleon, imported from Scotland. Napoleon vvas bred by Macadam Kepcullock; his sire George Buchanan, was bred by Mr Buchanan of Coldrach. Napoleon is out of a celebrated mare, the property of Lord Campbell, Esq, of Roseneath. Kate is out of th- HteMr J Nimmo's old black mare af i, imported from Scotland, bred Ia Mr A. Galbraith, Craycunningham, Kilearn. Jean is by Justice, grandsire Prince Albert, and out of the famous Jess, who gaiued six prizes out of seven competitions. President took first prize against 11 comers at the Wanganui Show in 1875.
