THOSE FIEE PLUGS.
(To the Editor ofthe Chronicle). Sir — ,1 noticed, in a recent issue of yours, a paragraph calling attention to the miniature tombstones thafc have been erected to mark the positions of the fire plugs. I think ifc would have been far more to tho purpose if some suggestions made to the Council had been carried out, viz., to have a sufficient number of cast-iron tablets, five or siz inches square, with the letters F P raised upon them in the casting, one of each to be let flush into the kerbing immediately opposite the fire plug-; it would have been a neater and a better mode of indicating the sjftofc where connection with the fire plugs could be effected, than by the present irregular and dangerous mode of procedure, — Yours, &c, Standpipe. Oct. 18, 1876.
