PERU, l- ,- :• ’ :■■■■ Amazon Expedition.— The Peruvian Government have commenced operations for opening the navigation of the Amazon by sending a commission to Great Britain by the last steamer. The commission consists of eleven persons in all. Their intention, We hear, is to contract for and superintend the building of two steam frigates of 500 tons each, with two tenders, for the < xploration and navigation of the Amazon river. Besides these steamers, Peru is to get an iron-plated steam frigate similar to the Warrior and La Gloire, for the better upholding the dignity of the Government. The staff of officers intrusted with these important enterprises consist of an admiral and two captains, the rest being lieutenants and midshipmen ; the latter, in the meantime, being expected to learn all they can for the better performance of the duties required and expected of them,
