STATE THEATRE

“JOURNEY INTO FEAR.” “Journey into Fear” and “The Great Gildersleeve,” will be finally shown tonight. “FIRST OF THE FEW.” One of the greatest pictures ever brought to the screen, “First of the Few,” will be shown tomorrow night. It is dedicated to the immortal fame of Reginald J. Mitchell, creator of the Spitfire, and to the everlasting glory of the members of the Royal Air Force. It is the unforgettable story of a man who died that his country might live. It was Winston Churchill who said: “Never in the realm of human conflict has there been so much owed by so many to so few,” and this picture tells the story of those few.’ Included in the picture are pilots and other personnel of the fighter command of the Royal Air . Force. The chief role is taken by Leslie Howard, who recently lost his life in connection with war operations in the air. Also in the cast are David Niven, Roland Culver, Rosamond Johns, Anne Firth, and Derrick de Marney. As there is a keen demand for seats for this appealing human story, patrons should book early in order to avoid disappointment. The picture will be shown twice tomorrow night, at sessions commencing at 7.45 o’clock and at 10 o’clock. It will also be presented on Saturday afternoon at 2.15 o’clock and on Monday afternoon at the same time, with sessions commencing each night at 8 o’clock. At the usual matinee on Wednesday afternoon, “The First of the Few” will also be shown, the final session being on Thursday night.
