GREYTOWN

BUSINESS ACTIVITIES HIGH STANDARD MAINTAINED. (“Times-Age” Special.) The Christmas-New Year holiday period is drawing to a close as far as business activities are concerned, and tradesmen generally record good business, despite the limited supply of goods available, with comparatively little variety. As always, the business firms of Greytown have kept up the high standard of honest trading, and as a result considerable trade has come to Grey town from adjacent areas during the past year. Many lines of goods can be purchased in Greytown at a cheaper price than elsewhere in South Wairarapa, while the quality is of the best. Shopkeepers in Greytown are proud bf their excellent business reputation, and the public can rest assured that in the coming year the standard will not be lowered. Personal Items. Mrs Lyford, Greytown, is spending the New Year holidays with her sister at Day’s Bay. Local Improvements. While many of the shops in Greytown have been brought up to date in appearance there will undoubtedly be further improvements as soon as restrictions are fully removed in connection with building. Business is increasing in Greytown and will become much more important when the war is over and the population is added to. While in some respects the appearance of the town has been much improved, efforts in this direction should be continued and some of the eyesores which have existed over a long period of years removed. Greytown has many beautiful gardens and most of the houses are situated in pleasant surroundings, the whole making an excellent picture to the eye in the height of the growing season. TOWN HALL “BEHIND THE EIGHT BALL.” There will be shown tonight the brilliant musical comedy, “Behind the Eight Ball,” in which the chief characters are portrayed by the Ritz Bros., Carol Bruce and Dick Foran. The associate picture, “Henry and Dizzy,” is an excellent comedy starring Mary Anderson and Jimmy Lydon.
