HELP FOR REFUGEES
LADY FREYBERG’S PROPOSAL. DOMINIONS AS "GODMOTHERS.” (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day. 9.45 a.m.) RUGBY. December 28. Ladv Frevberg. wife of the commander of the Second N.Z.E.F., has put forward a plan by which each Dominion will become a "godmother” to refugees from different European countries, says a Cairo correspondent. Lady Freyberg, who is now inspecting Red Cross work in Italy, made her proposal after seeing the splendid voluntary work Allied soldiers were doing for hundreds o( refugees whose plight, after their escape was pitiable.
