WIN FOR WAIRARAPA
CRICKET MATCH AT MASTERTON HAWKE’S BAY DEFEATED BY NINE WICKETS. GOOD BATTING BY THOMSON AND DAVIS. The cricket match between Wairarapa and Hawke’s Bay was concluded yesterday afternoon, and resulted in a win for Wairarapa by 9 wickets. In Wairarapa’s second innings, Davis and Thomson scored 169 runs while together, thus giving Wairarapa the victory. Both played excellent cricket. Davis hit fourteen 4’s in his score of 78 before being caught by Perrin. Thomson’s effort of 83 (not out) included three 6's, a 5 and seven 4’s. Scores: — WAIRARAPA. First innings, 165. Second innings, 169 for 1 wicket (W. Thomson, not out, 83, Davis 78; Davis 1 for 16. HAWKE’S-BAY. First innings, 188. Second innings, .124 (Gallagher 42, Mitchell 35, Stevenson 13, Fair, not out, 11; A. Whiteman 4 for 32, McMichael 3 for 24, Mahoney 2 for 35, K. Masters 1 for 23, Jones 0 for 8.
