HEIGHTS CAPTURED

FOUR MILES FROM MIGNANO HEAVY FIGHTING ON ADRIATIC SECTOR. INDIANS TAKE PRISONERS. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 9.25 a.m.) RUGBY, December 27. The two heights captured by the Fifth Army are in the Monte Sambue area, four miles north of Mignano, according to a correspondent at Allied headquarters. The troops moved up from the south-west to drive the enemy from them. This was presumably from the village of San Pietro, which lies a mile south-west of the summit of San Bucaro. The main fighting yesterday, however, again took place at Ortona, where the Germans tried in ■ vain to infiltrate the southwest corner of the town. The Allies captured another two blocks in the north-west corner, after very heavy fighting, in which Canadian infantry were supported by tanks. They are now engaged in clearing the remaining nests of resistance. A mile across the road to,Orsogna the Indians captured the village of Grande, taking 28 prisoners. German counter-attacks, forming near the village, were dispersed and heavy fightjng occurred in the crossroads at Tollo, which seems already on fire. *
