Holiday Travelling.
“Holiday travel over the Christmas holidays has been the quietest for many years,” stated the Masterton stationmaster, Mr R. A. Taylor, this morning. He added that for the New Year holidays bookings were so far only up to the average. Jockeys Injured. Three riders taking part in the Dunedin Jockey Club’s meeting at Wingatui yesterday were admitted to the public hospital with injuries received when their mounts were involved in accidents. The condition of all three is reported to be satisfactory. The victims were: —James Jennings (52), Christchurch, rider of Sunny Sal, concussion and fractured collarbone; Duncan Campbell (14), Christchurch, rider of Sally Lux, concussion; Noel Crombie (16), Mosgiel, rider of Georgia, broken leg. Jennings and Campbell fell in the Trial Handicap, and Crombie in a collision when going out for the President’s Handicap. 1
