Expressing concern over war complacency in America, a high Government official has issued a warning that we may expect American war casualties approaching half a million men during the next !)() days, Hie I’niled Press of America savs.
This presumably encompasses a major invasion of Europe. The official would not permit the use of his 'name, but he holds a High place in the nation’s war councils. His prediction, which envisages almost four times as many killed and wounded in the next three months as the total up to the present, is made while officials from President Roosevelt downward are endeavouring to bring the public to a realisation of the dark days which must precede victory.
