Wilson and family, Essex Street, Masterton, are spending the holidays at Raumati Beach. Fireman H. Braggins has been appointed by the Masterton Fire Board’ as station officer at the Masterton Fire Brigade Station. The engagement is announced of Gwendoline, second daughter of Mr and the late Mrs Gillies Baird, “Waiwiri,” Masterton, and Alan (“Sandy”), youngest son of Mr and Mrs A. M. Sanson, Lansdowne.

The engagement is announced of Elsie Ivy Irene, eldest daughter of Mrs and the late Mr W. M. Gibbons, Grey Street, Woodville, and Western Frank, youngest son of Mrs and the late Mr A. Morris, McMaster Street, Greytown. There was a representative attendance of mourners at the funeral on Wednesday afternoon of the late Mr H. W. Horne, of Masterton. The Ven Archdeacon E. J. Rich officiated. Many wreaths were in evidence, among them those from the Blue Bird Restaurant and the staff of Gressier’s Bakery. Messrs G. R. Young, I. Osborne, A. S. Carter, E. J. Carter, E. J. Kenny and G. Horne were the pall-bearers.
