CHRISTMAS PARTY
MASTERTON BAPTIST CHURCH. There was a large and happy gathering in the Masterton Baptist Chinch Sunday School rooms last night when a most successful Christmas Party was held. The proceedings commenced with the National Anthem and the first half of the programme featured items by the children’s orchestra, trained ' and led by Mrs Noye. Solos were sung by Valerie Teeboon, Dorothy Madden and Frank Rigg. A huge Christmas tree occupied part of the room. The tree was festooned with streamers and coloured lights and was laden with presents. A fire place was decorated with glowing lights and the smaller cnil - ren there hung up stockings and pil-low-cases. Each child was given ice cream. . For the second part of the programme the story of Christmas was told to the children in character. The Three Wise'Men” came into the room and Mrs Teeboon read the ci jMren a splendidly written account of the birth of Christ Pastor D. Edwards prepared Se toy- A sextette sang Christmas carols and the noise of sledge bel s heralded the arrival of Father Christmas on a sleigh drawn by three reindeer Father Christmas was suitably attired and he received an overwhelming reception from the children. Each child received a present and hea y cheers were given for Father Christmas who had a few personal words Io say to each child as he gave them a 8 The gathering was brought ; to.a close with the pronouncing of the bened c tion by Pastor .
