SUGAR, BUTTER AND TEA
JANUARY AND FEBRUARY COUPONS. ANNOUNCEMENT EY FOOD CONTROLLER. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The availability of tea, sugar and butter coupons for the four-weekly periods ending January 23, and February 20, 1944, as approved by the Ministei* of Supply and Munitions, Mr Sullivan, and War Cabinet, was announced last evening by the Food and Rationing Controller, Mr J. E. Thomas, as follows: — Tea.—Coupons 9-12 available for a total of Boz. tea from December 20 to January 23. Coupons 13-16 available for a total of Boz. of tea during the period January 24 to February 20. Special Y 3 coupon available for an additional Boz. of tea above the normal quota at any time during the calendar months of December and January. Sugar.-r-Coupons 9-12 available for a total of 31b. of sugar from December 20 to January 23. Coupons 13-16 available for a total of 31b. of sugar during the period January 24 to February 20. Special Y 4 coupon available for an additional 31b. of sugar for jam at any time during the calendar month of January. Special Y 5 coupon available for an additional 31b. of sugar for jam at any time during the calendar month of February. Butter.— A coupons 9 and 10 each available for Boz. butter from December 20 to January 9, 1944. A coupons 11 and 12 each available for Boz. but- ”
ter during the fortnight January 10 to January 23. A coupons 13 and. 14 each available for Boz. butter during the fortnight January 24 to February 6. A coupons 15 and 16 each available for Boz. butter during the fortnight February 7 to February 20. Available coupons for all three commodities, up to number 8, do not expire till December 26, but to avoid inconvenience during the holidays the next period has been advanced, so that all coupons which would normally become available on December 27 are now valid from December 22.
Four-weekly returns by retailers and wholesalers for the period ending December 26 will not be required. Instead a single return for the eight weeks from November 29 to January 23 will be accepted by rationing officers.
