Mr and Mrs S. R. Gawith, Upper Plain, will leave tomorrow on a visit to Hawke’s Bay. Mr and Mrs J. M. Andrew. Whareama, are visiting Tauranga. The Misses Sellar, Renall Street, Masterton, are staying at Paraparaumu Beach.

Mrs R. C. Drummond, Lansdowne, has returned from a short visit to Wellington.

Miss Sexton, Napier, is staying with her sister, Mrs Peter Cooper, Pownall Street, Masterton. Mr and Mrs J. M. Perry and family, Taranaki, are staying with Mr and Mrs AV. G. Lamb. Herbert Street, Masterton. The death has occurred of Mr Frank Symes, aged 49, one of Sydney's bestknown journalists, and the Sydney “Sun” war correspondent. Born in England, Mr Symes went to New Zealand at the age of 12. He served with the New Zealanders at Gallipoli and in France in the last war, and was wounded at Messiiies. He had been ill for some time. He is survived by his wife and daughter. An Australian war photographer. Harold Dick, aged 26, was killed in an air accident in Queensland on Sunday, a Sydney cablegram reports, when returning from Arawe, New Britain, where he took pictures of the American landing last Wednesday. His pictures were published throughout Australia on Sunday. General admiration has been expressed for the way he covered the Arawe landing. He left a widow and a son seven weeks old.
