Court Sitting.

The last session this year of the Masterton Magistrate’s Court was held before Mr H. P. Lawry, S.M., this morning. Allan E. Chapman was fined £1 and 12s costs on a charge of havingoperated a car without a warrant of fitness. The Borough Traffic Inspector, Mr J. McGregor, prosecuted. Christmas Service in Park. Following the custom of many years the Masterton Ministers’ Association has arranged for an open air service to be held in the Park next Sunday morning, commencing at 7 o’clock and concluding at 7.45 o’clock. The service will be held in front of the Band Rotunda and the speaker will be the Rev. D. W. Storkey. Christmas Cantata. At the Masterton Methodist Church on Sunday evening the senior choir will render the Christmas Cantata, “Nativity.” This is the first time that this cantata has been presented by the choir, and all'lovers of Christmas music should appreciate both the theme and the rendition of this excellent production. Wairarapa for Masterton. The new telephone directory issued, by the P. and T. Department has submerged the emergency numbers for Masterton under the name of Wairarapa. In big print on the cover of the directory appear the words “Emergency numbers foi’ Wairarapa subscribers.” Then follow the fire brigade, police, hospital and power board numbers for the Masterton exchange. Soldiers’ Gift Parcels. i The packing of soldiers’ gift parcels by the Masterton Women’s Patriotic Committee is expected to be completed by the end of this week. Greytown parcels were packed on Tuesday, the Martinborough quota today, and the Eketahuna parcels will be dealt with tomorrow. In each of these instances ladies from these centres did or will do the packing. The Masterton Com'mittee packs for districts that cannot come to Masterton to do so. The Wairarapa quota is 2345 parcels.
