ALLIED PLANS
FOR ATTACK ON GERMANY FROM WEST
AMERICAN SERVICE JOURNAL GIVES DETAILS.
GENERAL MARSHALL’S COMMAND
(By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) NEW YORK. December 13. ' The unofficial but usually reliable “Army and Navy Journal” says that General Marshall, the United States Army Chief of Staff, will command the western assault against Germany as Commander-in-Chief of the AngloAmerican armies. More than 1,000,000 Americans will participate in that operation. General Marshall will remain Chief of Staff, but General Eisenhower will discharge the duties of that office.
The “Journal” adds that Russian officers will be attached to General Marshall’s headquarters, but will not be members of his staff, since the staff will be organised to deal with all theatres of war, and Russia is still neutral concerning Japan. There will undohbtedly be more Roosevelt-Churchill-Stalin meetings and perhaps a supreme war council will be created.
