NAVAL RATINGS
VISIT TO MASTERTON YESTERDAY.
A party of visiting naval ratings making a one-day trip by special bus to the Manawatu and the Wairarapa, made a short stay at Masterton yesterday afternoon. They were extended a welcome by the Mayor and Mayoress, Mr and Mrs T. Jordan, and Mrs Guy Williams, at the American Red Cross Service Club. Tea and entertainment were provided by the club hostesses until the party resumed their •journey later on in the evening. Chaplain Captain Beiliss expressed his appreciation and thanks to all who had extended a welcome and provided hospitality to the party. The journey had given them a great opportunity to see the rural district, this being the first visit to the Dominion for many of them and they had managed to include in their brief trip a visit to a butter factory and a shearing shed in full operation,
