BARNARDO HOMES ANNUAL BOX OPENING (“Times-Age” Special.) The annual box opening of the Featherston . Habitation of the Barnardo Helpers’ League took place at the residence of the president, Mrs Sharp, on Saturday afternoon. There was a good attendance of members. Swimming and games were enjoyed. When afternoon tea had been served the secretary announced the amounts in the various boxes. The prize given by the president for the largest amount in one box was won by Albert Osborne. A vote of thanks was passed to Mrs Sharp. The total amount collected through the boxes will be about £l2. Personal The funeral of the late Charles Roland Tocker took place at the Featherston cemetery on Saturday afternoon. The Rex J. R. Higgs officiated at the service in St John's Church and at the graveside. The pall-bearers were Messrs R. P. Hardy, J. Blain, Cl Wilkinson, I. Matthews, E. Brown and O. Cottle. The late Mr Tocker had been a member of St John’s Masonic Lodge for a number of years and was accorded a Mason’s funeral. He was born in Featherston 57 years ago and was engaged in farming all his life. He was a director of the Featherston Dairy Company and was interested in racing and claybird shooting. He leaves a widow and two daughters, Misses Marjory and Ngaire to mourn their loss. Among others beautiful wreaths were forwarded from the Featherston Dairy Company, the Wairarapa Seed Company, the Masonic Lodge and the Kawaiwai Hall Committee.
