EX=SOLDIERS’ WORK

WAIRARAPA DISABLED MEN.

SHOP DAY TO BE HELD

Splendid work is being accomplished by badly disabled Wairarapa returned soldiers of the present war in the manufacture of beautifully finished toys, poker work and pewter work. The work is being carried out in a workroom at the rear of the Soldiers’ Club, Masterton. Articles which are being made include poker work bowls, bread boards, pin trays, powder bowls, nut bowls, tea pot stands, serviette rings, match holders and cake stands. In the toy line there is a wide range of stoutly but artistically made articles. Ships, horses and carts are among the many toys which would delight any youngster. The pewtei- work consists chiefly of book ends. A high degree of craftsmanship has been shown by the men. A shop day will be held in Masterton on December 22 in the premises formerly occopied by Messrs Krahagen and Chapman, in Perry Street, when a wide range of articles will be on sale. The articles will be on show in Messrs Krahagen and Chapman’s shop window tomorrow afternoon. Anyone wishing to purchase articles or to leave an order may do so meantime at the workroom behnid the Soldiers’ Club in Essex Street. The work carried out by the men has no connection with any other shop in Masterton.
