GENEROUS RESPONSE

APPEAL FOR MERCHANT NAVY HOSTEL £446 RAISED IN MASTERTON A sum of £446 was raised in Masterton yesterday as the result of . a street appeal on behalf of the British Sailors’ Society for funds to provide hostel facilities in Wellington for men of the Merchant Navy. The society wishes to express its grateful thanks to the people of Masterton and district for their wonderful response to the appeal. The result was most gratifying and special thanks were due to the generosity of ladies’ organisations for their part in conducting the appeal and to all others who had assisted so liberally.
