MORE TRANSFERS TO GERMANY TEN SAFE WITH ALLIED FORCES. RESERVE OF FOOD PARCELS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. This Day. In the past week an additional 208 New Zealanders from Italian prisoners of war camps have been accounted foi. Of these, 196 have been transferred to Germany, ten are reported safe with the Allied forces and two are in Switzerland. The Prisoners of War Inquiry Office stated today that these men are from 24 camps. There are still approximately 2,200 men not accounted for. Thus far 1,152 have been transferred to Germany, 73 are in Switzerland and 153 are safe with the Allied forces. Advice has been received that Stalag VIIIA is a permanent camp and that a majority of the prisoners are employed in a sugar factory. The Royal Horticultural Society reports that eleven candidates _ in warprison camps have passed their senior general examination and the University of London reports that 16 war prisoners in Germany have passed matriculation. It is reported that at Geneva and in prison camps there is a twelve weeks’ reserve of food parcels. Further lists of persons interned in Japanese-held territory have been sent to all Red Cross and St. John centres throughout New Zealand and can be seen there.
