WOMEN’S INSTITUTE / BUSINESS AT YESTERDAY’S MEETING. (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Kopuaranga Women’s Institute was held in the local hall yesterday, the president, Mrs W. J. Cottle, presiding over a fair attendance of members. A letter was read from Flight Sergeant Douglas McKenzie, thanking members for a parcel received overseas. It was decided to hold a concert and dance to celebrate the institute’s birthday. Mrs Cottle gave a full and interesting report on the half-yearly council meeting, held in Carterton last month. . Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Misses M. and J. Cottle. The next committee meeting was set down to be held at the residence of Mrs Hewitt, on January 11. Mesdames Reside and Pirika demonstrated the making of poi pois. They were accorded a hearty vote of thanks 'on the motion of the president, who also wished members the compliments of the season. The competition winners were:— Best bloom, Mrs Taplin, 1; Mrs Hansen. 2; Mrs Hewitt, 3. Best lettuce: Mrs Reside, I”Mrs Wyeth, 2; Miss M. Cottle, 3.
