WEST SCHOOL
MEETING OF COMMITTEE IMPROVEMENTS TO GROUNDS The monthly meeting of the. Masterton West’ School Committee was held last night. Mr R. Graham (chairman) presided. Three new members, Messrs W. Harrington, S. E. Burridge and E. J. Esler, were welcomed. The headmaster, Mr J. P. Farrell, reported a roll number of 353. Five boys from the school had been selected to represent Masterton in a cricket match to be played at Wellington next week. Mr Esau was thanked for his work in preparing plans for improvements to the school grounds and in securing the services of Mr Hudson of Massey College. The secretary was instructed to write to the principal, and to Mr Hudson, of Massey College, and thank them for their co-operation. Appreciation was expressed of a generous donation from the Trust Lands Trust. Members were elected to represent the school on the newly formed combined school committees’ association. The chairman expressed thanks and the season’s greetings to the committee, especially to Mr Farrell, and asked Mr Farrell to convey the committee’s good wishes to Mrs Farrell and the teachers.
