OUTSKIRTS OF WAREO
REACHED BY AUSTRALIANS IN NEW GUINEA BRIDGEHEAD ENLARGED BY AMERICANS ON BOUGAINVILLE LONDON, December 8. Australian troops fighting on the Huon Peninsula in New Guinea have reached the outskirts of Wareo village. Another column has pushed on a further two miles. American troops on Bougainville Island have enlarged their beachhead on Empress Augusta Bay.
