GREAT INCREASE

IN WEIGHT OF BOMBS ON GERMANY. ENEMY EFFORT IN RATIO OF ONE PER CENT. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 10.25 a.m.) RUGBY, December 8. The R.A.F’s. terrific night bombing of Germany during November was emphasised in London when it was disclosed that 4,500 night sorties were made by the Bomber Command and 14,500 tons of bombs dropped—l3,ooo tons on Germany alone. In November last year, by day and night, the Bomber Command flew 1,600 sorties and dropped 2,400 tons of bombs. In November this year and last year the weather was about the same. The German night effort was also stepped up in November, 1943, when 120 tons of bombs were dropped on Britain, against 13 tons in November, 1942. 'The German attack this year was therefore less than one per cent of the British.
