RED CROSS SOCIETY SUCCESSFUL EUCHRE PARTY. (“Times-Age” Special.) The local sub-centre of the Red Cross Society held a successful euchre party on Monday night when there was a very large attendance. Mrs Sharp thanked those present for having attended the parties so regularly. Special thanks were extended to Mrs Carlyon, Mrs Baker and Mrs Elliot for having conducted the card parties and presented them with shoulder sprays made by Mrs Alexander. The card winner was Mr Cross, with Miss Esma Card second. The consolation prizes were won by Mrs Nicol and Private Smith. The competitions resulted as follows:—Cake: Private Smith; mystery parcel,. Mr Cassidy. Donations were received from Mesdames Sharp, Viles and McKenna. Bowling. The following were the results of bowling games played recently:— Champion singles: N. Batchelor beat H. Bloxam; W. Higgison beat H. Rolls; J. James beat L. Benton. Handicap singles: J. Thompson beat W. Rowles; H. Rolls beat L. James. Champion pairs: Lepinski and Bloxam beat O’Neale and Thompson; Moriarity and Batchelor beat Card and Rolls, champion rinks: Moriarity, Lepinski, O’Neale, Thompson beat Johnson, Robinson, Chaston, W. Rowles; Latta, Elder, W. Higgison, H. Bloxam beat L. James, Fuge, Batchelor, 11. Rolls. Twenty sets of bowls were sent to Wellington for testing during the (weekend and these are expected to be returned by Thursday night. COSY THEATRE “FRIENDLY ENEMIES.” There will be shown tonight one of the best dramas ever brought to the screen, • “Friendly Enemies,” in which the chief roles are taken by Charles Winninger, Charles Ruggles’ and Nancy Kelly.
