MANPOWER APPEALS
SITTING OF INDUSTRIAL COMMITTEE WAIRARAPA CASES'DEALT WITH The Industrial Manpower Appeal Committee held a sitting in'Masterton yesterday afternoon when there were present Messrs J. J. Scott (chairman), J. Arthurs and H. O. Pittendrigh. W. M. Angus, Ltd., appealed against the decision of the District Manpower Officer, Masterton, directing W. Minchip, a bridge hand, to employment with E. Tomasi as a shed hand. The appeal was disallowed, and Minchin was ordered to report to the District Manpower Officer after the completion of a shearing contract for direction to freezing works. The Masterton Borough Council ' withdrew an appeal "against the Manpower Officer’s decision directing E. Paku, a borough employee, to employment with K. Paku, Masterton, as a shearer. Bowker and Mullins appealed against i the decision of the District Manpower . Officer directing L. Nolan to employ- ; ment with the Dalefield Dairy Com- 1 pany, Carterton. The appeal was not ' allowed. ' A. H. Harwood appealed against' the . decision of the District Manpower Of- . fleer refusing him permission to ter- ' minate his employment with C. E. A. H. Harwood appealed against' the decision of the District Manpower Officer refusing him permission to terminate his employment with C. E. Daniell, Ltd. •, Decision was reserved, but the board announced later that it had allowed the appeal conditional on Harwood reporting to the Manpower Officer, Wanganui, for direction into suitable employment. Decision was reserved in the case of the Hamua Co-op. Dairy Company’s appeal against the decision of the Manpower Officer refusing permission to terminate the services of R. C. Davis.
