CARTERTON
ORDER OF ODD FELLOWS LOYAL HEART OF OAK LODGE. (“Times-Age” Special.) Sister M. E. Eagle, N.G., presided over the fortnightly meeting of Loyal Heart of Oak Lodge of Odd Fellows last evening. Sick pay amounting to £ll 3s 4cf was passed for payment. One member declared on the sick funds and one off. Bro. A. R. Tankersley, of the Middle East Forces, wrote stating that he was enjoying good health after an extended rest in Tunisia and Cairo. He had met Bro. Alex Deller, also of the Carterton Lodge, who was in good health. Officers and members were reminded that as the next meeting would be the last one held in 1943, a good attendance was requested.
BOWLING CLUB COMPETITIONS. Further games in the Carterton Bowling Club’s competitions have been played as folow: — Champion singles: A. H. Adams beat W. H. Hull, 21/18; Hughan beat McCarty, 26/19. Progressive pairs: Beaven and Daysh (s) beat McGimpsey and Tucker (s), 24/18; A. Adams and Sorensen (s) beat Foss and Newbould (s), 26/22. Winner of 100 Guinea Gold Cup. Mr Martin J. Parker, the well known Friesian cattle breeder of Dalefield, is the winner of a 100 guinea gold cup, which he secured with his herd of 12 Friesian cattle at the recent Egmont Show held at Hawera. This challenge cup is competed for annually, and is given to the exhibitor obtaining the most points in live stock. It has been in competition for the past nine years, and 7 times has been won by pig breeders. Mr Parker, who has been for many years an exhibitor at the Egmont Show, is to be complimented on winning this coveted prize.
