POST-WAR TRADE

SOVIET ECONOMIST’S VIEW ADVOCACY OF GOLD STANDARD (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) ' (Received This Day, 10.40 a.m.) LONDON, December 6. Professor Varga, the Russian economist, in an article in “War and the Working Class,” says Russia is interested in all steps calculated to hasten the restoration of the economies of other countries as well as Russia. However, Russia is not interested in any international bank of currency stabilisation fund, owing to the different methods she has adopted to secure a stable currency. Advocating the gold standard, Professor Varga writes: “If all Russia’s trade with the rest of the vjorld could be done on the basis of a fixed value gold currency, trade relations would undoubtedly be facilitated.”
