MAN SHOT
accident in bush. RESCUE PARTY OUT. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. v About H o’clock yesterday morning a man whose name is not yet known, a member of a shooting party at the back if Wainui-o-mata, was accidentally shot. The injured man, one of a party of five or six, including two girls, was inside a hut in the five-mile track off the Wainui Road when the accident occurred. Another membei of the party in the open was ejecting the shells from his .303 rifle when it went? off, the bullet passing through the wall and an upright —nearly 10 inches of timber in all, and entered the right side of the stomach of the man in the hut. The bullet lodged in the man’s body near the spine, while there were also a number of splinter wounds in the stomach. Following telephone messages arrangements for the assembling of a rescue party were immediately put in hand, and it was hoped to bring the wounded man out of the bush last night, but up till a late hour last night no word had been received from the rescue party.
