YOUNG AMERICAN GENERAL. (By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright) y SYDNEY. December 3. Promoted Brigadier-General, Frekderick H. Smith, an air task commander in New Guinea, today becomes one of the youngest general officers of the United‘States Army. He is aged 35. General Smith is a son of Major-Gen-eral H. Smith, of the United States Army, who recently retired. His wife is a ’ daughter of Admiral Earnest King, Commander-in-Chief, United States Navy.
