SHOPS DESTROYED
FIRE AT WHANGAMOMONA (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, December 2. Four shops were totally destroyed by fire at Whangamomona early this morning. In the absence of fire-fighting appliances there was a danger of the fire spreading, but a road grader was used to haul down one building, and this saved the post office and the hotel. The buildings destroyed were a bakery, grocery, billiards saloon and butchery.
