DALEFIELD

CALVES AND LAMBS ANNUAL COMPETITIONS. (“Times-Age” Special.) Very large entries were received for the annual calf and lamb competitions held at the Dalefield School Agricultural Club. The calves and lambs were brought forward in excellent condition. The entry was’ the largest from any school in the Wairarapa and the judge, Mr Howard Feast, of Greytown, had a difficult task in making the awards. He complimented the children upon their’ entries. The awards were as follow:— LAMBS. Juniors: Peter Press, 1; June Smith? 2; Archie Champion, 3. Seniors: Maureen Hicks, 1; John Gallon, 2; Dorothy Jamieson, 3. Champion lamb: Peter Press (Mr and Mrs E. Smith’s Cup). CALVES. ' Junior class (care and handling): Peter Press, 1; Alwyn Knowles, 2; A. Hicks, 3. Type: Peter Press, 1; Alwyn Hicks, 2; David Hooper, 3. Seniors (care and handling): Maureen Conwell, 1; Jay Ticehurst, 2; Margaret Hughes, 3. Type: Jay Ticehurst, .1; Grahame Press, 2; Maureen Conwell, 3. Champion calf of school: Peter Press. Junior calf: Peter Press (Mr A. Conwell’s Cup). Hughes Cup (champion senior calf): Jay Ticehurst. At the conclusion of the judging Mr Feast was thanked for his services. Afternoon tea, which was much appreciated. was provided and presided over by the senior pupils.
