PATRIOTIC ACTIVITIES BOROUGH LADIES’ COMMITTEE. (“Times-Age” Special.) ■A meeting of the Borough Ladies' Committee took place recently, when those present were Miss M. Anderson (in the chair), Mesdames Doney, Hart, H. N. Gallagher, Murray Aynsley, Simmers, Olsen, Handyside and Richardson (secretary). Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames Scott, Liardet and Miss A. Anderson. Correspondence was received from the secretary, Lady Galway Guild. Wellington, acknowledging a case of clothing recently dispatched, and from parents of prisoners of war to whom money was sent in order that they may purchase comforts for their sons on the committee’s behalf. It was resolved to send parcels of tobacco to local soldiers overseas. It was decided to finalise the competitions from the mystery parcel, the morning cloth and the serviettes in the near future. The president intimated that one more card party would be held and one more sewing gathering before Christmas. Personal Items. Mrs A. Robbie, “Otapawa.” Haunui, is a patient in the Pahiatua, Hospital. Mesdames M. R. Herbert and A. M. Houlbrooke have returned from a visit to Pdrs R. M. Small, Palmerston North. Miss M. late of the staff of the County Office, has commenced training in the Masterton Hospital.
