IHURAUA
PATRIOTIC WORK ACTIVITIES OF SEWING CIRCLE. (“Times-Age” Special.) _ . A meeting of the Ihuraua Ladies’ Patriotic Sewing Circle was held at the residence of Mrs C. R. Judd, when Mrs Dagg presided over a small attendance of members. Ten parcels were packed for overseas. A large package of flannel undershirts and one homespun seaman’s jersey were also packed ready for dispatch to the headquarters of the Women's Division of the Farmers’ Union. A competition for a basket was won by Mrs Pickering. Donations were received from Mesdames Meredith and Pickering. At the previous month’s meeting a trophy given by Mrs S. Anderson was won by Mrs P. Pickering. The next meeting will be held in February. Social Club. At a meeting of the Ihuraua Social Club it was decided to hold the usual Christmas tree for the local children. Parcels for Soldiers. “H.M.S. Leander,” who won the model yacht in the recent carnival competitions, has given the yacht back for competition for some patriotic purpose, and it has been decided that the proceeds from this shall go to the local soldiers’ parcels fund. •
