BOWLING CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS. (“Times-Age” Special.) The following games'in the Carterton Bowling Club's championships have been played: — Champion singles: Puggs beat Heaven 23/12; Colson beat Hughan, 19/16; Stent beat Foss. 23/18; Sorenson beat Hawkey, 20/15. Champion pairs: Spooner and Undeihill (s) beat DeLacey and Bain (s), 27/10: Clark and Edwards (s) drew with Smith and Whyte (s), 23/23. ORDER OF DRUIDS TOTARA LODGE MEETING. The half-yearly summoned meeting of Totara Lodge, No. 3, was held last night, Arch Druid Bro. H. J. Bassett presiding. . One new benefit member was initiated into the Order, and a further proposal accented for membership. Bro. T. E. Geange, who is on active service overseas, forwarded a card conveying Christmas greetings to Lodge members. The invitation of the Juvenile oLdge to members of Totara Lodge to attend the installation meeting on December 7 was accepted. The election of officers resulted as follow: —Arch Druid, Bro. H. J. Bain; Vice Arch Druid, Bro. C. C. Geange; Secretary. Bro. E. McKenzie; Treasurer. Bro. R. Smith; Inner Guard, Bro. R. McKenzie; Outer Guard. Bro. H. Matson; Arch Druid Bards, Bros. W. Hart. W. O. Geange; Vice Arch Bards, Bros. B Fryer, H. Staples; Musician, Bro. C. Kitchen; M.C., Bro. A. J. Dew; Delegates to Friendly Societies’ Council, Bros. P. J. Reid and H. Matson. The installation of officers will be held at Masterton on December 6. to which Lodges of No. 7 District will be invited. Invitations from the Fernleaf Lodge and Stonehenge Lodge to attend meetings on December 1 and December 6. respectively, were accepted. The juvenile lodge members will attend the installation of Totara Lodge officers on December 13. A benevolent grant of £l3 was made to a member who had recently suffered adversity through illness. Sick pay and accounts amounting to £69 18s 9d were passed for payment.
SALVATION ARMY
YOUNG PEOPLE’S ANNIVERSARY. The annual concert and prize giving in connection with the Young Peoples anniversary was held last night in the Salvation Army Hall, there being a large and appreciative audience. The Home League secretary, Mrs Leighton, and Sister Fairbrother, Senr., of Masterton, conducted the proceedings in a most capable manner. The company singing of the children was excellent, as also were the individual items rendered. Mrs Leighton presented the prizes, which were of a high quality. Kenneth Stunt was presented with his final prize. - Licensing Committee. The quarterly sitting of the Wairarapa Licensing Committee will be held at the Carterton Courthouse at noon on Thursday. S.M. Court Sitting. The monthly sitting of the Magistrate's Court will be held at Carterton tomorrow afternoon. Messrs Stubbs and Bell, inspectors under the Education Board, are paying an official visit to the Carterton District High School. Complimentary Social Gathering. In honour of his having been selected a Cabinet Minister, Mr Ben Roberts will be tendered a complimentary social gathering in the State Theatre, Carterton, on Monday night. The committee of the local Labour Party _ is sparing no effort to make the gathering a success and..give the newly-appointed Minister a very cordial welcome. Ashton’s orchestra will provide the dance music.
