AIR E. CASEY RETIRING CABINET APPRECIATION* OF SERVICES MR J. SAWERS APPOINTED AS SUCCESSOR (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Minister of Railways (Mr Semple) stated today that the General Manager of Railways (Mr E. Casey), who has completed over 41 years’ service, has requested permission to retire. Cabinet decided to comply with the request and instructed Mr Semple to convey to Mr Casey its appreciation of his long and devoted service. Cabinet also approved the appointment of the present Assistant-General Manager, Mr J. Sawers, to the position of General Manager.
