FEATHERSTON
PATRIOTIC COMMITTEE SOLDIERS’ DANCE. (“Times-Age” Special.) There was a good attendance at the soldiers’ dance held by the Junior Patriotic Committee in the Town Hall on Saturday night. Music was supplied by Mrs Ashton’s orchestra, extras being played by Misses C. Saba, G. Fraser and N. Tocker. The M.C. was Mr Ashton. Competitions were won by Sergeant A. Anderson and Private Holl. Soldiers Entertained. The Service Club was gaily decorated with bowls of Iceland poppies on Saturday morning, when the Patriotic Ladies’ Committee entertained Privates P. Habib, W. Hocquard and J. McKenna at morning tea. The guests were welcomed by Mr J. W. Card, who presented each with a gift envelope. The recipients suitably replied. The Mayoress, Miss H. Card; was present. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames Arch. Clark, Berg, Shepherd, Raper, Alexander, Carlyon, Misses J.' Tutbury and J. Donald. Personal Items. Sister M. Bridger has returned from a visit to Whakatane. She will leave this week to report for duty at a military hosplital. The Rev. J. R. Higgs was the preacher at St. Paul’s Pro-Cathedral, Wellington, last evening. Canon Davies, Wellington, conducted services at St. John’s Church, Featherston, yesterday. COSY THEATRE “MRS WIGGS OF THE CABBAGE PATCH.” On Wednesday night there will be shown the brilliant comedy-drama. “Mrs Wiggs of the Cabbage Patch,” 'with Fay Bainter and Hugh Herbert in the chief roles. There will be a matinee on Wednesday at 3.15 p.m. at which “Mrs Wiggs of the Cabbage Patch” will be shown.
