BOWLING

PARK CLUB . COMPETITION RESULTS MANY INTERESTING GAMES There were splendid attendances on the green over the weekend, including several new members and a visitor from Nelson. In the various championship events, and in the handicap singles, many of the first round games were played, and proved' most interesting. The results of the games played are: — Champion fours: S. H. Dixon, F. Dixon, Leigh, Carstens beat McCord, Lee, Wallis, Staniforth, 22/17; Maxted, P. Smith, Newton, Macpherson beat Edwards, Garard, Griffiths, Shearer 21/19 after a very interesting game. Macpherson led 19 to 7 on the 15th end. A four- and a six to Shearer found him only three down on the 20th end. S. Moore, Andrews, Bell, Kilgour beat Stimpson, Carpenter, Duckworth, Winhall, 22/14, although Winhall scored on 10 of the 21 ends. Heath (Trevorrow sub.), White (Carr sut), Ferguson and Reader beat Drummond, Wallace, Spackman, Simpson (Jenkins sub.), 25/17.

Champion singles: Osborne beat Ferguson, 24/12; Kilgour beat Wallis, 14/12, although the latter scored on 11 ends and led 6 to 1 on the 6th; Leigh beat Edwards, 19/13; Ferguson beat Moore, 21/11 (Ferguson’s second life). Handicap singles: Winhall (6) beat Davies (10), 31/20; Penistone (11) beat Stimpson (10), 31/26. Other games played during the week were: Moore and Kilgour beat Garard and Jenkins, 23/15. Moore and Kilgour later staved off a challenge from Stimpson and Ferguson, 25/12.

Feathers: O'Donnell and Brown defeated the holders Moore and Kilgour, 19/13.

Play will be on a reduced scale during this week as twenty-seven sets of bowls have been forwarded to the official tester in Wellington. With the completion of the interior of the new pavilion it was possible to seat everyone at once for afternoon tea on Saturday.- The members and visitors alike i are loud in their praises of the new appointments, of which the club is justly proud.

MASTERTON CLUB

FOURS COMPETITION. The Masterton Bowling Club’s greens on Saturday last were well patronised. The playing surfaces were in perfect condition and some exCiting games were witnessed. A start was made in the club fours •competition, the results being as follow: —Price, Daniell, Mills, W. Reid (s) beat Fletcher, Vennell, Weller, Finlayson (s), 30/12; Murdock, McKay, Clayson, Hughes (s) beat Innes, Denbee, Davies, Roberts (s); J. Douglas, Palambntain, Maxwell, Stubbings (s) beat Downes, Stempa, Irvine, Hunter (s), 38/19; Plant, Hyde, Henderson,

Evans (s) beat Reynolds, Steele. Freeman, Campbell (s), 29/21; Douglas, (Graham, Morton (s) beat Haycraft, Holdsworth, E. J. Reid (s), 15/12; Blane, Gordon, Beecroft (s) beat Bain, I Dr. Prior, Christian (s), 19/16; Pither, Holland, Stewart, W. W. Hendry (s) beat Bassett, A. Hendry, Bannister, Percy (s), 25/15.
