YET ANOTHER
HEAVY R.A.F., BLOW AT BERLIN OVER 1,000 TONS OF BOMBS. DROPPED ON GERMAN CAPITAL ON FRIDAY NIGHT. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, November 27. The Air Ministry announces: “Our heavy bombers were over Germany in very (great strength last night. Berlin was the main target. Fires from the previous attacks were still burning, and the weather was good. Crews report that the markers were well concentrated and the bombing was most effective. ’ “Another strong force attacked Stuttgart, where large fires were left burning, particularly round the rail centre. Mines were laid in enemy waters. Intruders, one of which is missing, attacked enemy airfields over a wide area. Thirty-two of our bombers are missing.” The attack on Berlin was the first with a large force of heavy bombers consisting entirely of Lancasters. In just over 20 minutes more than 1000 tons of high explosives and incendiary bombs was dropped by the Lancasters on Berlin. The attack began at 8.45 p.m.
