PIGS FOR CHRISTMAS
FATTENED BY AIRMEN IN ITALY. (Special Australian Correspondent.) LONDON, November 25. Flying Officer Harry Newton, New Plymouth, is one of the “patrons” in charge of the City of London Squadron’s Christmas dinner, says the Air Minitsty news service. The squadron is in Italy and has purchased and is now fattening up 10 sucking pigs for Christmas dinner. Six of the pigs have been allotted to airmen, two to the sergents’ and two to the officers’ messes. Newton is in charge _ of feeding operations for the two pigs for the officers’ mess. A notice at the sty says: “The piggery—entrance prohibited. All Wogs, canvassers, etc. Home of contented porkers. Pigs reared under the most modern and hygienic conditions. Happy pigs give bptter bacon. Applicants for board and lodging, apply to the patrons.”
