Mr Will Appleton is to be asked to stand as Mayor at the next Municipal elections in Wellington. Mr and Mrs Brown, who have been visiting Mr and Mrs R. Page, Essex Street, Masterton, have returned to Dunedin.
Mr HI L. Harker, Grand President of the North Island Jurisdiction of the Druids’ Lodge, has found it impossible to visit Masterton in December as originally planned. He will probably make his visit in February. The funeral of the late Doris Stowell took place in Masterton this morning. The Ven Archdeacon E. J. Rich officiated at the chapel and at the graveside. Among the wreaths was one from the Masterton West School pupils. The pall-bearers were Messrs G. Permain, A. McPherson, P. Stowell and B. Stowell.
The funeral of the late Judith May Duncan, the five-year-old daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Duncan,' of Mauriceville, took place yesterday afternoon. The service at the church and that at the Mauriceville West Cemetery were conducted by the Rev. D. W. Storkey. Wreaths were sent by railway men at Mangamahoe; senior boys and girls, Mauriceville School; junior boys and girls, Mauriceville School; members of the Mauriceville Croquet Club and others from private sympathisers. The pall-bearers were Messrs J. Pickering, W. G. Waterreus, J. Clapham and G. McWhirter.
