GREYTOWN

CITIZENS’ COMMITTEE SOLDIERS ENTERTAINED (“Times-Age” Special.) The Greytown Citizens’ Committee entertained members of the armed forces in the Town Hall on Wednesday evening. The guests of the evening were Staff Sergt. M. Greathead, L/Corp. H. Broughton and Gunner W. Dunn. The Mayor, Mr A. W. Horton, conveyed to the guests the good'wishes of the citizens. Mrs Beu presented .the soldiers with woollen comforts on behalf of the Women’s Division of the Farmers Union. Messrs S. Shedden. and J. F. Thompson also spoke. Staff Sgt. Greathead paid a tribute to the members of women’s organisations who voluntarily assisted in the canteens in the New Zealand camps. L/Corp. Broughton and Gunner Dunn said that they had enjoyed every minute of their furlough and thanked all those who had helped to entertain them. Mr Udy’s orchestra supplied the music and extras were played by Mr S. Te Tau and Misses B. Shedden and M. Carter. Messrs R. O'Neale and S. Shedden acted as M.Cs. BOWLING MATCH POSTPONED. The Booth Cup bowling match'which was to have been played on Saturday between Greytown and Martinborough teams has been postponed until December 11. TOWN HALL “THE FOREST RANGERS.” Tomorrow night there will be presented the excellent drama, “The Forest Rangers,” the principal roles in which are portrayed by Fred Mac Murray, Pauline Goddard and Eugene Pallette.
