Mrs Walton White, of Masterton, is the guest of Miss White, of Tane. Mr R. Salmond, of Raetihi, has succeeded Mr H. Knowles Smith as manager of the Bank of New Zealand, Pahiatua.
A' farewell gathering in honour of Colonel and Mrs Ebbs on the eve of their departure for Australia was held in the Salvation Army Citadel, Wei-’ lington, last night. Colonel Ebbs, who has been chief secretary of the Salvation Army in New Zealand for the past three years, has been appointed chief secretary for the Australian East Territory, with headquarters at Sydney. The death occurred in Masterton yesterday of Doris Irene, the five-year-old daughter of Mrs and the late Mr F. C. Stowell, of Cornwall Street. The child had been in failing health for some time. The sympathy of a wide circle of friends will be extended to Mrs Stowell and family in their bereavement. The funeral will take place in Masterton tomorrow, following a service at Hyde’s Chapel at 11 a.m. for the Masterton cemetery.
