INTERHOUSE GALA
DRILL AND MARCHING CONTEST FINAL REHEARSAL LAST NIGHT. TWELVE TEAMS ON PARADE. The twelve teams which will compete in the Wairarapa Interhouse Association’s drill and marching contest on Saturday afternoon held a final rehearsal in the Masterton Park last night. The girls, in their neat and colourful costumes, showed considerable improvement on their recent efforts, ■and gave finished performances. Interest was taken in the timing in connection with marching fifty yards in 60 paces. The girls realised that every step under or over the distance would mean a loss of points. The assistance of the Masterton Municipal Band in playing for the drilling and marching was appreciated by the association and the girls. If wet weather causes the events at the Park io be postponed the gala dance will still be held at night. The box plan for the concert on Sunday night is rapidly filling, and patrons are advised to make their reservations now. More billets are needed for the visiting artists.
